Innovation

Even when they think you're nuts.

For the first time in nearly 120 years, this selfie of the infamous Dayton, OH Wright Brothers sees the light of day.

Welcome to the latest edition of Airplane Mode! Yesterday was National Aviation Day (August 19th) and we wanted to take a moment to reflect on our roots as thinkers, and doers, the Wright Brothers playing a huge part in our world history.

There are a few people out there who think that having a "growth mindset" is wishful thinking and maybe a bit delusional, but reality is often crazier than fiction. We have seen many inventors and innovators do things that society rejected at first, and often loudly, only to later realize that they are brilliant. Look at the gentleman who invented hand washing in medical settings… These individuals grow, even at the cost of their reputation, and otherwise. Growth toward innovation, true innovation, is an ideal worth pursuing. Even growth towards self-improvement is a noble cause more times than not.

We honestly seek your feedback, so please reply directly to this email and share your thoughts on this week's edition. We want your input on what you’d like to see in future editions. Thank you for being a subscriber and joining the journey. We're stealing a culture that's been hijacked by distractions and striving to improve our minds by 1%, every day.

Warm Regards,

Automation Altitude

There are a lot of opinions on automation in the workplace. I have seen opinions on all sides. That said - let me leave you all with this. What did people say when Sperry made the first autopilot?

We are talking about innovation after all, AI is about as innovative as it gets for now.

Brothers in Flight

Perhaps Wilbur was reflecting on the sensation of mastering powered flight for the first time, or even Orville's debatable skills, as he smiled at the camera that historic day at Kitty Hawk. The Wright brothers' unrelenting ambition, technical acumen, and brotherly connection led them to victory.

They exemplified virtues of perseverance, command over complexity, and creativity, which fuel innovators even today. As we contemplate human flight, remember that our loftiest goals are attained through diligence, valor, and collaboration with partners or a mastermind. Whether in aviation or personal endeavors, these principles apply.
