Inside the Analyst's Toolkit
The frameworks that shape how I see the world
Welcome to Airplane Mode, Edition 29 – and this time, it's personal. Honestly, there's a part of me that's always hesitated to hit 'send' on these newsletters. These aren't just random tips I stumble across – this is my hard-won toolkit. They're the sources and strategies that took years to discover, refine, and put into practice. That’s a hard thing to share, but if you’re reading this email - it’s for you. This is not for the web, only for email subscribers. Explore and gain insights from practical to philosophical.
But here's the thing, it's time to level up, together. That's why today, I'm pulling back the curtain on the gems I usually keep close to my chest:
The content I actually pay for: Forget the freebies—here are the ones with insights I can't find anywhere else, worth every penny.
"Off the record" thought leaders: I'm sharing the voices who challenge my thinking, not just confirm it. They might not have huge followings, but their brilliance is undeniable.
The Brilliant Ones: People and Sources from all around that are staples you can use and rely on for constant and consistent gems and impactful information. Some in aviation, some not.
I can't promise this will be the norm... some habits die hard. But for this edition, I'm doing away with 'Airplane Mode' as a metaphor, and making it literal: shutting out the noise so we can take this journey together.
This is a tiny fraction of the repertoire - fear not, more to follow in 2024!
Get ready to learn the secrets behind the signal!

I want to thank my competitors for being crappy at what they do.
I get more business from them screwing people up than any other source.

BTW: Check out Gas Biz Guy’s new YouTube Channel, he’s flipping five gas properties and trying to get a Porsche 911 with the profit - has been entertaining to say the least:

Entrepreneurship culture in America is all messed up and it’s a shame.
TechCrunch. Product Hunt. Shark Tank.
It’s all about new ideas. Changing the world. Innovation. 0 to 1. Blue ocean. Venture capital and exits and scalability.
And IT’S ALL A LIE.

If you've been to my office you've seen this on the wall.
This is the last email my dad sent to me 3 days before his accident.
For context, I was 25 y/o and was in the process of getting a bank loan to build some townhomes.
The banker gave me a crafty solution to lowering… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

The Business of Aviation:
Content So Good I Pay For It:
The Money & Markets Weekly Report from Solari. Catherine Austin Fitts was a former US HUD (Housing & Urban Development Director) and uncovered financial misgivings and crimes. She is an incredibly talented investor, investigator, author, and woman:
This content is free but I donate monthly because it’s that good. I’ve watched Frank’s show Quite Frankly since 2018 M-F and haven’t missed very many. An absolute staple, and a wild ride at times. Why would you watch? Tune in M-F 7PM Eastern one time and see if you don’t come back yourself:
Again, free content that I donate to - it’s that good. Valuetainment! Entertainment with huge value (sidebar - a lot of surprisingly solid life and leadership lessons found hidden inside mafioso crime family stories):
I have several additional monthly subscriptions that I choose not to disclose at this time. Why, you may ask? Well, these subscriptions delve into sensitive realms encompassing politics, crime syndicates, corruption, intelligence community intricacies, and more. I am more than willing to share these valuable sources with you privately - shoot me an email!
Ace Update
A young ace studies the writings of those who came before. You don’t get to be an “Ace” without mastering reading and arithmetic.
"A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices."
Thank you for reading Airplane Mode! Consider sending me an email with your thoughts, comments, or concerns - or don’t! Either way hopefully this newsletter brought some actual value, even if it’s just Ace.
